What Do The Letters In A Hobart Model Code Mean?

Every Hobart dishwasher and glasswasher model number, across Ecomax, Ecomax Plus, Profi and Premax, is built from a base code plus one or two letters, and those letters are not random. Each one tells you exactly what is built into that machine. Knowing how to read them before you order means you choose the right model the first time, rather than finding out afterwards that the one you ordered doesn't do what you needed. 

This guide covers the letters used across the full Hobart dishwasher and glasswasher range sold on this site, so you can compare models with confidence and order the right combination for your kitchen, whichever range you're choosing from. 

Why the letters matter before you order 

Two machines can look almost identical in a product listing and differ by a single letter in the model code. That letter can mean the difference between a machine that's ready for a hard-water site and one that isn't, or between a chamber that fits your largest trays and one that doesn't. Working out which combination you need before you order avoids the cost and disruption of retrofitting an external water softener, or discovering a tray doesn't fit, after the machine is already installed. 

The letters explained, across the whole range 

S - Integrated water softener 

A model with an S in the code has a water softener built in, protecting the machine from limescale and helping keep wash results consistent in hard-water areas. This applies across Ecomax, Ecomax Plus, Profi and Premax, for example the Ecomax F504S, the Ecomax Plus F515S, the Profi FXS and the Premax FPS. The equivalent model without the S does not include this, so if your site has hard water, the S variant is worth choosing at the point of order rather than adding external treatment afterwards. 

L - Deeper or larger wash chamber 

A model with an L in the code has an enlarged wash chamber, built to take larger items such as 600 x 400mm trays or EN gastronorm containers. This shows up as the Ecomax Plus F515L and the Profi FXL on undercounter dishwashers, with a deeper chamber, and as the AMXXL and AUPL on Profi and Premax pass-through machines, with a wider and taller chamber. Either way, the standard chamber on the equivalent non-L model is smaller, so the L variant matters if your kitchen regularly washes large trays or containers rather than standard plates and glasses. 

T - Twin capacity 

A model with a T in the code is a twin-capacity version, built for a higher volume of washing than the standard single model. You'll see this on the Profi AMXT and Premax AUPT pass-through dishwashers, and on the Profi UXT and Premax UPT utensil washers, where the T model roughly doubles the throughput of the equivalent non-T machine. Choosing a T variant comes down to how many covers you're washing per day. 

ROI - Integrated reverse osmosis (glasswashers) 

On Profi and Premax glasswashers, ROI in the code means integrated reverse osmosis is built in, for example the Profi GXCROI, Profi GCROI and Premax GPCROI. This removes the minerals that cause water spotting on glasses, so these models don't need a separate S softener variant, the reverse osmosis system does that job instead. 

Combined letters - more than one feature together 

Where a model offers more than one of these features, the letters combine, for example the Ecomax Plus F515LS and the Profi FXLS both have the deeper wash chamber of the L variant and the integrated water softener of the S variant in the same machine. You don't have to choose one feature over the other if your site needs both.
